Our Story:
John Walter Mitchell was born May 21, 1911 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, second son of six children born to Samuel John Mitchell Sr. (1873-1948) and Pearl Pheobe Preece (1887-1937). Samuel Mitchell homesteaded on the property W ½ 16 - 34 - 5 located 2 ½ miles south of Preeceville. John and his wife, Gladys Mary Norman, devoted their lives to this farm. The homestead remained in the Mitchell family for 100 years. Pearl Mitchell was the daughter of Louisa Preece after whom Preeceville, Saskatchewan was named.
