The Big Picture

PhotoThink of the stories your grandparents told of this young province - stories of survival and success that have shaped our present day. Those precious stories, if not recorded, will disappear with our early generations.

You can immortalize the proud, personal stories close to your heart in our computerized archive, The Family History Album - part of the Western Development Museum's ground breaking centennial exhibit, "Winning the Prairie Gamble". This spectacular display, the first of its kind, will celebrate Saskatchewan's Centennial in 2005.

The gift of your story (up to 5,000 words and five images) and a tax deductible donation of $500 will ensure your place in the Family History Album, and help build four outstanding centennial exhibits. Gifts can be made in installments; major credit cards are accepted; your contribution can be split and receipted to multiple donors. The many ways in which you can make your gift are described in detail in Donate Your Family History.

All Saskatchewan-based stories of family, community and business history are welcome. Anyone who has ever lived in, or has ties to, Saskatchewan may submit a story. You are invited to invest your personal heritage in this dynamic exhibit. Your story will appear at all four WDM branches - Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton:

  • museum visitors will access your story on computerized kiosks
  • your name will also be inscribed on a large, permanent display
  • you can even share your story worldwide on the internet
